Since our lives have been so crazy lately I decided to surprise David with an overnight backpacking trip. The DeSoto National Park is only about 30 minutes away and we have camped there before at a nice little lake. Little did I know that that lake was the halfway(almost) point on a 13 mile hike. So after getting our dear friends the Boles to watch the boys, David, Kitty and I headed out to do a 16 mile round trip hike. I'm not sure what I was thinking. It was my first time ever backpacking and I think it was a little ambitious of me. But I did it. We had a blast. The hike ended at a POW camp. It's where they held the German officers during WWII. There isn't much left there today. Just a some cement barracks and a big pond with alligators. Sadly we didn't see any. David and I had a blast and Kitty loved it so much. We walked through at least 100 spider webs and saw all kinds of lizards and bugs. All three of us were so tired and sore that after we got home we could not move!!
